Hello, my friends, again! Oh, wow, we are already almost into summertime, phew! This year seems to be speeding by, leaving me breathless. I just reached into my Runebag, right now, to see what I should focus on for this month, and withdrew the Rune, “Dagaz”, Breakthrough. Dagaz is the twenty-second Rune, and is the last Rune in the Cycle of Initiation. When you draw this Rune, you can expect a major shift or breakthrough in the process of self-change, or transformation. This can be a very good thing, but it is wise to be prepared for unpredictable results, because this Rune often requires an unswerving and radical trust; in your self, and in your Higher Self, or your Spiritual Warrior, as He/She is sometimes referred to. In ancient cultures, Runes provided a means for the elders or shamans, to determine the best direction or course of action, to take at any given time, among other uses, and was also used as a sacred tool in many of the tribes’ religious ceremonies. One school of thought is that an Oracle would “speak” to [one], by guiding the hand to choose the most relevant stone, in order to find an answer. Another legend has it, that all of the Runes would be tossed into the air, and all the Runes that landed face-up, would then be read by the Holy Man (or Woman), to learn the next course of action to take. There are other origins ascribed to this particular tool, and there are several historical sites where evidence can be found of their usage. I use my Runes when I am struggling to find a sense of clarity, or when I have issues with a situation or circumstance, that is difficult to resolve. What I find amazing, is that the Runes I draw are almost always consistent with the Tarot Card reading I follow up with. For that explanation, I have never found a scientific or religion-based answer, nor has my research uncovered one. If you have a story or article of relevance to this subject, please respond by subscribing to my newsletter/blog, and rest assured, I will not Spam you, as I hate spam as much as anyone else, and the only reason I request your information is to be able to reply to your requests. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, today, and may your day be Blessed. Goodbye for now, from Mellie Mystic!

Blessings From the New Moon
Thank you for your response. ✨
Tonite, from my back porch, I captured a beautiful shot of the New Moon waning, and the smattering of stars in a clear twilit sky; I knew I had to share this with the people who can’t observe this at their location. This is a perfect example of the expression about “being in the presence of [The Divine]”, I thought to myself. I decided to light an incense and white candle to honor the May Faerie Queen, and ask for Her to shower Her blessings of a bounteous Springtime, then sat down to catch up on my newsletter. I was experiencing some issues with my OS system-wide upgrade to G Suite, so have been unable to keep to a schedule this month, with my blog. My first order of business is to cast my 5-Rune Spread, for some insight into what to expect, or look forward to, for the remainder of the month; so, here goes…What I cast are as follows: Sowelu, Dagaz, Algiz, Berkana, and Nauthiz. The symbols are shown in the sidebar, and the descriptions are taken from The Book Of Runes by Ralph H. Blum; the way I interpret the meaning is, of course, all mine! Sowelu signifies Wholeness, Life Force, and The Sun’s Energy. In our lifetimes on this planet, we, as individuals, are all seeking something. This is different, in most respects, for everyone, and that is how it should be; however, we are all human, regardless of our ethnic and denominational aspects, and we all are trying to find answers to explain our existence, on this planet, at this time, and in the particular situation or environment, we find ourselves in, and more importantly, perhaps, why, we are, there. I believe that we all seek wholeness, which some are able to find through religion, or political participation, or career choices. However you find it is totally up to the individual, and as such, takes many different paths to reach its destination. Drawing this Rune is an indication that this is a time to search deep within yourself for that which makes you feel complete and at peace with your self, and your greater Self, (the Divine within you). Next up is Dagaz. The twenty-second of twenty-five Runes, this is the last Rune of the Cycle of Initiation Runes, which I will explain in more detail in another blog post. Dagaz is symbolic of Breakthrough, Transformation, and Day. This Rune signals a major shift in the process of inner growth or self-change; a transformation in attitude. In some cases, this can be extreme enough, so as to cause difficulties in your circumstances, to the point where lifestyle changes become necessary. Algiz: Protection, Sedge or Rushes, and The Elk. This Rune is all about control over your emotions. When we find ourselves in times of transition, we sometimes lose control of our emotions; this Rune is a reminder not to be at the mercy of those emotions, as they can often be counter-productive. Imagine the elk in the wild; when they hear a suspicious noise, the first reaction is to become very still and alert, once they determine whether to “fight or flight “, they take action, and follow through on that decision. That is the message of this Rune. Berkana is our nextt Rune, symbolizing Growth, Rebirth, and the Birch Tree. This is another Cycle Rune and it represents a form of fertility that fosters both symbolic and actual growth. This growth can manifest in many different ways; most commonly it is concerned with the flow of beings into their new forms. Be aware, clear, and controlled, and certain that your motives are clear, otherwise, your actions might create havoc or go awry. Finally, we come to our fifth Rune: Nauthiz, which signifies Constraint, Necessity, and Pain. I’m beginning to get the sense of my full message now. When using a 5 Rune Spread, the order is as follows: Overview, Challenge, Course of Action, Sacrifice, and ultimately, New Situation evolving. Now, I have a challenge to present to anyone who bothers to read any of my posts: Post your interpretations of this Runecast , following the order above, and the descriptions provided, to see how close you can come to my final summary, which I will be posting on June 1, 2018. I will take the five that I like the best, and give free Gift Passes for readings in one of my modalites. That would be, for those who haven’t seen my About page: Tarot, Numerology, Viking Runes, Crystals, and good old-fashoined (un-)-Common Sense! In the meantime, Blessings to All, from Mellie Mystic!
